Triple Door!

April 20th, 2009 by The Senate

Greetings, friends! We the Senate have been enjoying a relaxed spring since our Fourth Anniversary Extravaganza but summer’s just around the corner and it’s time for a blowout! To celebrate the beginning of summer, we’ll be throwing down a FULL SCALE BASH on May 22nd at the Triple Door! For those of you who have never been, the Triple Door is Seattle’s premiere concert venue, a swanky club with fantastic food, killer staff and the best sound and light show in town. We have headlined this beautiful room twice before, and each time we have sold the place out with a one-time-only lineup of amazing guest artists, brand-new Senate songs and enough acoustic riffage to melt your face off!

May 22nd will be no exception. Seriously, we’ll be handing out moist towlettes for you to wipe your face off the table after the show.

New guest artists, new songs and a few surprises lie in store for this show, and we’ll even throw in a few of your favorites for good measure. The only way this show could be any more awesome is if John Lennon descended from the rafters on a flaming pie and gave us high-fives during curtain call! Tickets for this Stupendous Summer Spectacular are on sale now at http://thetripledoor.net, and they’re already going fast, despite the fact that we haven’t officially announced the show yet! You crazy music lovers, you…

Whenever we throw a big show like this, the Powers That Be try to get us to jack up the ticket price, but we won’t budge. Our audience has grown as we have evolved, but tickets for this Triple Door show will still only be fifteen dollars, just like it’s always been.  The “real” Senate might try to screw you, but we wish only to tickle your ears until you giggle like a happy baby. The Triple Door will charge you an extra three bucks if you buy your tickets day-of-show, so get your tickets in advance and save a little beer money, eh? Head on over to http://thetripledoor.net and hook it up, yo!

As always, your generosity and support mean so much to us. We love what we do, and getting to play for amazing people night after night is the best gift we could ever hope for. Thank you.

Love,

Nick & Oliver & Andrew

Great new article on The Senate

There’s a great new article on The Senate posted over on our press page, thanks to Blaine Bowman and the kind folks at Lake Stevens High School. Swing on over and give it a peep.

Losing a Friend

March 11th, 2009 by Nick

The Senate has lost a friend.

Our longtime friend and promoter Brian Robinson passed away on Saturday night of natural causes. We send our condolences to his family and closest circle of friends.

Brian’s influence and guidance helped The Senate tremendously through our youth as a band. He helped us navigate the murky waters between playing music as a group, and becoming a band. His only request to us was that we become better at our little parts of the whole, and in doing so make the whole bigger than it’s little parts.  Brian was constantly pushing us, prodding us, encouraging us to step outside of what we thought we could do. He made us better musicians, better performers, better writers and better people. He was a consummate giver, and he was a friend.

It is no exaggeration to say we would not be the band we are today, without Brian. The sweet sounds of his beloved Phish carried him to a better place. He will be missed.

Cafe Solstice

January 9th, 2009 by Oliver

Thanks to everyone who came out for our first show of 2009! We realized as we were getting ready to load in to the show that this was the 24th time we’ve played at Cafe Solstice. A proud tradition, I say. Last night we got to debut two new songs, ‘Man in the Moon’ and ‘For Always’, both of which we are very excited about. Hope you all had as much fun as we did! See you next month at our birthday party in Columbia City.
